Microsoft’s own games are the safest bet on Game Pass: first-party titles launch on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass and stay in the catalogue rather than rotating out after a few months. If you have just subscribed, these eight cover a wide range of genres.
1. Forza Horizon 6
The newest Horizon game, set in Japan with changing seasons and hundreds of cars. It launched in May 2026 and is the obvious showcase for a new subscription.
2. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
A first-person adventure mixing exploration, puzzles and stealthy fights, set in 1937. It is also in Game Pass Premium.
3. Doom: The Dark Ages
id Software’s medieval prequel is slower and heavier than Doom Eternal, built around a shield and brutal melee. Pure, polished action.
4. The Outer Worlds 2
Obsidian’s sci-fi RPG sequel, full of dark comedy and choices that change how quests play out.
5. Avowed
A first-person fantasy RPG in the Pillars of Eternity universe. Its 2026 anniversary update added new options such as New Game Plus and a photo mode. Also in Premium.
6. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
A full visual rebuild of the 2006 classic. Ideal if you want a huge RPG to live in for months.
7. Sea of Thieves
A pirate sandbox that is best with friends. Sail, fight and hunt treasure — the stories you create are the point.
8. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Not a typical game, but a remarkable one: fly anywhere on a digital Earth, or try careers such as search and rescue. On PC, check the requirements first.
Before you download
- Check storage: several of these are very large installs.
- On PC, look at the minimum and recommended specs on each game’s page in the Xbox app.
- Your progress carries over if you later buy a game outright.
